The son of late frontman Chester Bennington wasn’t the only one disappointed by the reunion of cult rock band Linkin Park: the artist’s mother also considers herself loyal.
Susan Eubanks publicly reminded Michael Shinoda that the band promised to let him know if they decided to return to the stage. She also said that Shinoda should be the band’s new lead singer and sing the way Chester taught him.
“It seems to me like they’re trying very hard to erase the past. They’re singing Chester’s songs. I don’t know how the fans perceive it, but I know how I perceive it. And it hurts to have Armstrong sing my son’s songs,” Eubanks said in an interview with Rolling Stone.
The woman said Shinoda had been planning to recruit the girl for a long time and allegedly threatened Bennington that he would replace her as the lead singer.
Chester’s son Jamie Bennington had previously written on his blog that he felt that accepting Armstrong into the group was a betrayal of his father’s memory. He accused his daughter of being interested in Scientology and supporting actor Danny Masterson, who was convicted of rape and sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison. Linkin Park fans then began threatening him.
Let’s remind that the band went on hiatus in 2017, when the life of their lead singer Chester Bennington was tragically cut short. Evanescence’s leader Amy Lee was expected to take his place, but she denied this assumption. Linkin Park recently released a video of an unreleased song with Chester Bennington. Let’s remind that the death of the band’s lead singer was learned on July 20, 2017.
