It turns out Johnny isn’t so good after all.
Over the past few decades, Robert Downey Jr.’s career has been nothing short of enviable – the actor reached a whole new level of popularity when he played Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and last year he received the coveted Oscar statuette for his role in Christopher Nolan’s drama ‘Oppenheimer’.
However, there were also less pleasant episodes in Downey Jr.’s life and career – from the actor’s complete “cancellation” due to addiction and lawsuits to completely disastrous films at the box office.

And yet, almost nothing compares to the abject failure that still haunts the comedy Johnny Be Good, in which Downey Jr. played one of the lead roles – almost 40 years after its release, the film retains a dispiriting V rating. 0%.
The plot of “Johnny Be Good” revolves around Johnny Walker, the best American football player on the high school football teams. Johnny is literally pursued by ‘recruiters’ who want to get the brilliant athlete on their college teams and lure him with everything that a teenager might find interesting.

Johnny’s best friend, Leo Wiggins, advises him to wait for the best offer, but then Johnny’s girlfriend Georgia intervenes – she insists that the young man choose the same study as her. The biggest problem with the latter option is that the university Georgia chose offered Johnny nothing.
The youth comedy, released in 1988, never found a response from viewers or critics. With a budget of $22 million “Johnny Be Good” only managed to earn 17 million and on Rotten Tomatoes, critics left the film in a huff 0% approval. Nevertheless, some viewers still liked the film – they gave the film 30% your approval.
