Actor Ian McKellen, who played Gandalf in Peter Jackson’s trilogy, is begging directors of the new Lord of the Rings movie to speed up filming. He really wants to get back into the role of a wizard.
The 85-year-old star is still recovering from injuries he sustained in a fall from the stage, but is already making plans for new work. “I’ve been told there will be more films and Gandalf will be in them. They’re hoping I’ll play Gandalf,” McKellen told the Big Issue in a new interview.
This isn’t the first time McKellen has spoken out about wanting to return to his famous wizard role. He first announced it when news broke about the upcoming “Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” movie.
Andy Serkis will direct and Peter Jackson will produce. Journalists have also discussed Vigo Mortensen returning to the role of Aragorn. The actor confirmed that he is ready, but only if he is age-appropriate and suitable.
