The betrayal of the baby occurred in a Moscow veterinary clinic. The owners brought their 1.5-month-old pet there, but he did not return for him. The lion cub was diagnosed with a number of diseases, including malnutrition. The incident was reported by the press service of the capital’s prosecutor’s office.

The unfortunate owners did not provide the clinic with any documents confirming the legality of the animal’s ownership. When no one came for the lion cub, animal rights activists contacted the Moscow Interregional Environmental Prosecutor’s Office.

Veterinarians stabilized the baby’s condition and handed him over to colleagues in the Leningrad region. The lion cub was adopted by the Tiger House shelter for big cats.

Now the prosecutor’s office continues to determine the circumstances in which the animal fell into the hands of Muscovites, and also checks the legality of its acquisition and maintenance, since lions are included in the list of endangered species subject to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
We previously talked about a bear cub that escaped from the forest and blocked traffic on the highway near Torzhok. Read about it here.
