Cooper Hoffmanwho had her breakthrough role in the 2021 film Licorice PizzaIt was launched together Wild Olivia in the director By Gregg Araki provocative thriller I want your sex.
The film features an original screenplay written by Araki and Carley Sciortino (Always a slut, Now Apocalypse) that lightly explores desire, domination and fantasy, and will begin production in Los Angeles in October.
The synopsis reads: “When young Elliot (Hoffman) lands a thrilling job working for famed artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde), his fantasies come true when Erika chooses him as her sexual muse.
“But Elliot soon finds himself out of her depth when Erika takes him on a journey deeper than he could ever have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder.”
The film will be produced by Seth Caplan, a past winner of the John Cassavetes Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, along with Araki, Sciortino and Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler.
John Friedberg, Joanne Roberts Wiles and Courtney L. Cunniff will executive produce for Black Bear, which will fully finance the film and handle international rights.
