The list of candidates for the Board of Directors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was announced before the voting to be held on June 6-10.
Candidates hope to win open seats on the 54-member council. A maximum of four candidates are nominated for vacancies in each branch, with three governors per branch for a given term.
The dismissed board members are Academy President David Rubin (Floors Branch), Ian Pascal (Production Designers), Mark Johnson (Producers) and Nancy Utley (PR).
Actor Marley Matlin, composer Hans Zimmer and manager Toby Emerick are all vying for the spot.
After forming the board of directors, he faces crucial tests, including the election of a new president and academy CEO to replace outgoing Dawn Hudson. The Academy also has to overcome perceptions created during difficult years, such as the confusion over Will Smith’s Oscar-winning event and which categories will get him an Oscar nomination.
