Al Pacino spoke for the first time about Diane Keaton’s death

Al Pacino broke his silence following the death of his former lover and colleague in the legendary “The Godfather” movie, Diane Keaton. The actress died at the age of 79 after a long illness, and as Pacino himself admitted, the news of her departure was a crushing blow to him, Daily Mail reported.

“I am deeply saddened by the death of Diane Keaton,” the actor wrote in an emotional message published Thursday evening. “I was shocked when I first heard the news. Diane was my partner, my friend, the person who brought me happiness and influenced the direction of my life on many occasions.”

Pacino and Keaton met on the set of the first film of The Godfather in 1972 and quickly became a couple. Their romance lasted on and off for more than 15 years and became one of Hollywood’s most talked about love stories. The actor admitted that despite the separation, his memories remain alive and haunt him. “More than thirty years have passed, but with his passing they have returned with a force that is both painful and moving,” he added.

In his message, Pacino described Keaton as a person of boundless energy and talent: “He lived without limits, and everything he touched carried his unmistakable energy. He was magnetic; lightning and charm, whirlwind and compassion. He was a miracle.”

The actor concluded his speech with words that touched his fans around the world: “People will miss him, but most importantly he will be remembered. He left a mark that cannot be erased. He could fly and he will always fly in my heart.”
