Todd Phillips, director of the “Joker” movie and its upcoming sequel “Joker: Madness for Two,” said that the second part of the movie will be the last.
“It’s been fun playing in this sandbox for two movies, but I think we’ve said everything we wanted to say in this universe,” Phillips told Variety.
The director plans to return to comedy. “Joaquin (Phoenix – Note.), but in comedy because it can be very relaxed and fun,” said the director.
He explained why he wanted to switch genres: “The trailer for Joker 2 sums it up by saying that the world needs love right now. But I’d go even further: we need a good laugh too.”
Filming of the second part of the movie “Joker: Madness for Two” was completed in April. The premiere of the film is scheduled for October 4, 2024. The new part will star Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and others.
