Australian scientists have come to unexpected conclusions. They found that cat owners tend to have higher levels of neuroticism than dog owners. The Daily Mail wrote about this.

The research was conducted by psychologists from James Cook University. They interviewed more than three hundred people who own dogs or cats.
All participants were assessed for personality traits such as extraversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and hardiness. The interview results showed that dog lovers are more resilient, better able to cope with difficult situations and adapt to them. Cat owners are more susceptible to neurosis.
Interestingly, female cat owners showed higher levels of excitement, restlessness, anxiety, and self-doubt than male cat owners.
Experts explain the difference in the characters of both groups by the fact that dog owners have to leave the house more often and interact with other people.
