The theater and film star said that it was her ex-husband who insisted that her son Ivan and daughter Anastasia live and study in Germany. Maria said that she was against this decision, but in the end she had to compromise. According to Golubkina, at such moments she surrendered to her husband.
“I obeyed him in his decisions regarding our children. I did not like it at all, it was painful. It seemed to me that if they went to study somewhere away from home, I would miss them. But I was bored,” said the artist. At the same time, she added that now she understands that Fomenko’s decisions are more correct than hers, “because he is smarter”: “What Nikolai Vladimirovich does is absolutely right, despite the fact that he does not care about my feelings,” – said Golubkina.

Now the former spouses do not maintain close relations. The couple divorced in 2008 after 13 years of marriage. Maria Golubkina married Nikolai Fomenko at the age of 21 (her husband was 11 years older than her).
After the divorce, Nikolai Fomenko married the former head of the press service of the Federation Council, Natalia Kutobaeva, who is 13 years younger than him. Golubkina never remarried.
