Emma Roberts was walked down the aisle by her five-year-old son Rhodes at her wedding to Cody John last weekend in Sun Valley, Idaho, after her father Eric Roberts confirmed he did not attend the ceremony.
The 35-year-old actress reflected on the moment in a Vogue feature, commenting on a black and white photo of Rhodes holding her hand at the altar. "A picture is worth a thousand words - and in this case, a million," she said about the image.
Eric Roberts, 70, confirmed his absence to the Daily Mail but did not explain why he was not there. "I love my daughter, always have, always will. It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants," he said. It is unclear whether Emma extended an invitation to her father.
Eric had previously said their relationship "is only complicated through outside eyes" in an appearance on Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson in late March.
Eric's sister Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder were present at the wedding. Other guests whose photos appeared in the Vogue spread include Kristen Stewart, Sarah Paulson, and Demi Moore.
Emma and John, 36, exchanged vows outdoors at the actor's family estate. The bride wore a custom white gown with asymmetrical sleeves by Monique Lhuillier. She later changed into an archival after-party dress by the same designer, while John wore a brown suit.
Emma told Vogue she wanted her gown to feel vintage-inspired, saying she is obsessed with antique books and old ephemera and wanted that to shine through in the dress.
Emma announced her engagement to John in 2024 with an Instagram post. Rhodes is her son with ex-boyfriend Garrett Hedlund.
