Physicists decided to prove that we live in a matrix and that our Universe is a simulation

Scientists from California State Polytechnic University decided to test the hypothesis of former NASA physicist Thomas Campbell that we all live in virtual reality. According to Futurism, the experts started the first experiment that he described in his 2017 article.

The scientist is trying to prove that we do not live in the real world, but in a simulated one. According to him, the Universe that we see is just a computer program. By the way, Campbell is far from the first person to be prone to such a theory. Remember the legendary “Matrix”, where the hero of Keanu Reeves managed to get into the real world, which is completely different from the usual.

There is also the assumption that as technology develops, any civilization reaches a stage where it can create a simulation of its own evolutionary history.

One of the experiments of a former NASA employee talks about the observer effect. According to the theory, if you observe a phenomenon, its properties change. Thanks to this, light and matter can behave both like waves and like particles. In this case, the second situation is possible if someone looks at the object. However, Campbell believes that if there is no observer in such experiments, light and matter will not exist.

This can be seen as a direct analogy to computer games: the virtual world only loads when the main character is nearby. However, this theory contradicts the assumption of quantum physics that particles depend on distance.

So far, the scientist’s experiments exist only on paper. It was not possible to check them. Now experts decided to do it.
