Special: London and Australia-based film and technology company Fablemaze has partnered with UK sci-fi film festival Sci-Fi-London to present its 2022 short film program on its new video hosting and annotation platform. The program lasted until 4 June.
The platform developed at Fablemaze is designed to bridge the gap between premium content streaming services and online video platforms while allowing filmmakers to add additional information that normally appears on DVDs. It is described as “DVD meets Wikipedia and Reddit in a single video player interface”.
“We built the platform we wanted to use and felt the market was missing,” said Matt Cook, co-founder of Fablemaze and the company’s chief technology officer. Annotation tools on our platform provide an easy-to-use, deep and immersive experience for watching movies and movies. “Sci-fi-London couldn’t be a better partner for our first public screening – we’re excited and proud to present world-class short films at the festival.”
London-based science fiction director Louis Savie added: “We are thrilled to have this technology debuted in our short film programme. Film directors have loads of bonus content surrounding their films, and Fablemaze is the perfect place to showcase all that original story and resources. The festival will also use it to show films shot as part of the 48-hour cinema challenge from September 10-12, 2022.
Fablemaze features include attachments found in the movie, rich media descriptions (picture picture) that open in the movie, or as a non-invasive side scroller of content including images, people, links, videos, and more. There are also time-specific rich media descriptions that allow users to discover specific moments within the story.
The company plans to bring more premium content to the new platform in the coming months as it refines the package’s features and seeks partnerships with rights holders.
