85-year-old actor Ian McKellen may join the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. His character will appear in the movie.

The actor talked about this in an interview with the New York Times. He stated that he heard about the upcoming sequel and liked the idea. He said that he already has the appropriate length of hair that he is growing for his current project.

“There is no script, no proposal, no plan. But if I live, I will star in this movie,” McKellen joked. Previously, actor Viggo Mortensen said that he could only accept an offer to star in a new movie if his age and shape were suitable for the character.

The director and lead actor of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum will be Andy Serkis, who already played a hobbit who is a slave to the Ring of Almighty in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Peter Jackson will be the director of the new project.
