Erotic or pornographic videos, photos are now officially allowed on X. An unsurprising announcement.
From Monday 3 June 2024, X officially authorizes the publication of erotic and pornographic content. Is a surprise? NO. The platform was already full of this type of content. While Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat have implemented a strict policy regarding erotic or pornographic content, Twitter, now X, has not changed its policy since its acquisition by Elon Musk. On the contrary, the billionaire wanted to make his network a space for free expression, even if this meant revising the moderation rules.
Erotic and pornographic content produced in a “consensual” manner.
“We believe that users should be able to create, distribute and view sexual content provided they are produced and distributed in a consensual manner », Indicate the network on the page entitled “adult content” of its updated regulation. This has the merit of being clear. Photo or video “featuring adult nudity or sexual acts of a pornographic nature or which may arouse sexual arousal ”, are therefore authorized.
Note: X also allows AI-generated content and hentai, a category of Japanese manga in which sexual acts are explicit.
X guarantees anyway "prevent this content from being visible to children or adult users who do not wish to be exposed to it."
Limits not to be exceeded
Content promotion “Sexual exploitation, child abuse and obscene behavior "they are forbidden, just like the pictures included “violent sexual conduct », we read in the X regulation. The decision taken by the social network is not such as to improve its image.
