A slight to the words of the victims? Director Roman Polanski was acquitted by a Paris court on Tuesday 14 May following the libel trial between him and British actress Charlotte Lewis. She had initiated legal action because the French-Polish director had called her a liar after she accused him of raping her.

As remembered Afp, the judges were not responsible for determining whether or not ninety-year-old Roman Polanski raped Charlotte Lewis. All that remained was to comment on the statements made by the director in an interview published by Paris match in December 2019, to determine whether he had abused his freedom of expression.
The latter he had described as“Hateful lie » the actress’s accusations, made in 2010 during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival. Charlotte Lewis had claimed to have been raped by the director during a casting held at Roman Polanski’s home in Paris in 1983, when she was still a teenager.
The actress, who criticizes Roman Polanski for leading to “smear campaign” against the one who failed “destroy your life”announced an appeal.
