While the majority of French people believe that they would need at least 50,000 euros a year to live well, a study investigated the amount missing per month to feel financially comfortable. How much does this necessary supplement cost? According to the BforBank online banking barometer, observatory of society and consumption (ObSoCo)*, 6 out of 10 French people say they need Additional 897 euros per month achieve a form of “financial well-being”.
Amounts that vary depending on the social categories
Other French people seem even more dissatisfied with their income: since then 19% of those interviewed even believe that they would need more than 1,000 euros per month as well as living well. A figure that would be “ proportional to the current income level », notes the study released by RMC.
Because the higher the income of a family, the more these families need additional income: for example, families living on 1,500-2,000 euros a month say they need 751 euros more, compared to 1,369 euros for those with an income exceeding 6,000 euros.
The ideal income supplement also varies based on gender: men talk about a supplement of 943 euros, while women, whose salary is on average 23.5% lower than that of men, estimate this amount 852 euros. Single-parent families are considered short of 1,077 euros.
Money, a real concern for 66% of French people
What would this additional income be used for? For 27% of the 2,000 people interviewed, this “financial well-being” would allow them to satisfy basic needsfor 23%, that they have no financial problems, and for 28%, that they can satisfy their secondary needs.
Because money is omnipresent in the mind of 66% respondents, who say they are worried about this problem very regularly, while 20% of them even think about it every day.
