More than 200 artists signed an open letter accusing artificial intelligence of “an attack on human creativity.” The human rights organization Artist Rights Alliance (ARA) calls for this injustice to be stopped.
The letter was signed by Billie Eilish, Imagine Dragons, Nicki Minaj, Pearl Jam, Katy Perry, Jonas Brothers, Julia Michaels, Ryan Tedder and other actors, artists and musicians. They noted that the study of a neural network could be useful. However, their message raises an important issue regarding the use of artificial intelligence to sabotage creativity. In the appeal, artists and copyright holders criticized companies that use other people’s music to train their own artificial intelligence models without the owner’s permission.
Hollywood actors and screenwriters had previously organized strikes and protests. Read our material on why this happens.
