US scientists have confirmed that chronic fatigue syndrome is a real disease and not an excuse for laziness. Nature magazine reports this.

The participants, 17 people with suspected chronic fatigue syndrome, underwent brain scans, muscle strength tests, and followed other key study points: diet, visit to the metabolism room. Starting in 2016, scientists at the US National Institutes of Health began to carefully monitor the indicators. As a result, the analysis showed that all patients showed biological differences from healthy people. Patients with this diagnosis have a higher resting heart rate and their nervous system is largely dependent on the immune system.

“Fatigue can result from a discrepancy between what a person thinks they can achieve and what their body is doing,” said scientist Brian Walitt.
