After a number of artists dropped out of the NRA’s “Grand Ol ‘Night of Freedom” concert in Houston this weekend, the music event appeared to have been canceled.
The concert was to be held at the organization’s annual conference. “American Pie” singer Don McLean, Larry Gatlin, Larry Stewart, Lee Greenwood, T. Graham Brown and Daniel Peck have canceled the last few days and the only action left this morning, country singer Jacob Bryant posted on Twitter. “Yesterday’s testimony was canceled.”
The testimony was postponed yesterday.

Although there has been no official announcement from the NRA, a page on their website once devoted to the event, titled “Saturday Night Concert Like Another”, simply reads, “Sorry. We can’t find this page.”
The concert cancellation, of course, came this week after a horrific school shooting in Walde, Texas, in which 19 children and two teachers were killed. The shooting sparked a debate over firearms and mass shootings and forced large crowds of protesters to gather today in front of George R. in front of the Brown Convention Center, some 280 miles from the site of the tragedy.
David Hogg, a Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor and gun control activist, posted a video of the out-of-convention protest.
Yes, this time it will be different. This is before the NRA Convention in Houston. pic.twitter.com/3BLhKK1St9
