The 7 most ridiculous trends in fashion history: Lame skirt and bullet bra

Every year more and more fashion trends appear: some come to our lives from the catwalks, others appear thanks to star it-girls, and others are born in social networks. However, it is worth noting that not all trends stay with us for a long time – some do not take root or develop into something completely different.

There are really a lot of controversial trends right now. For example, a large part of the fashion industry is still unable to accept (understand and, most importantly, forgive) the abundance of fashionable clothes in the field of fashion knowledge. The rest are desperately trying to shake off the oversized look that has been painful for the past five years.

To justify the larger size, it’s worth saying that this isn’t the worst thing to happen to fashion victims. We’ve brought together seven of the most absurd and strange trends in fashion history.

bullet bra

A cone-shaped bra codenamed “bullet” was on every self-respecting fashionista’s wish list in the 1940s. Women proudly wore this wardrobe item under tight sweaters, turtlenecks and blouses. True, everything looked not as natural as possible and there was little convenience. We therefore recommend leaving such sconces only to Jean-Paul Gaultier and Madonna. In all the other comments it looks (to put it mildly) ridiculous.

Zouaves

Zouave trousers, or as they are also called harem trousers, came into fashion in the late 2000s and were already among the trends in the early 2010s. Fortunately for the majority of the fashion industry and the new generation of fashionistas. And this is because the wide gap between the two parts of the trousers visually shortens the legs and distorts the proportions of the figure. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez, Kendall Jenner and Ciara have worn this ridiculous wardrobe piece.

“Lame” skirt

At the beginning of the 20th century, girls finally managed to get rid of crinolines and overly full skirts. True, they were replaced by even more inconvenient “lame” models. Skirts got such a strange name because it was impossible to walk normally in them. Due to the style that was too narrow at the bottom, girls could not take a step wider than 10-15 centimeters. Among the people, this model was called “dressage skirt”, which was created to prevent women from becoming emancipated.

flapper dresses

But in the 1920s, beauty trends and standards were completely different. Tight corsets and uncomfortable skirts disappeared, and straight-cut dresses that hide the curves of the body came into fashion. Corset manufacturers began to find ways to flatten the chest. Of course, emphasizing her waist was out of the question. Fashionistas of the Roaring 20s belted their dresses at hip level. Needless to say, all this greatly spoiled their figure?

Aglishuz

Over the past few years, the fashion community has become obsessed with ugly shoes. Every second brand, young and old, produces their own unconventional versions of shoes. For example, the Balenciaga team invites us to wear huge sneakers, the MSCHF brand has everyone looking for “toy” astro boots, and the I Wanna Bangkok brand has released real Hulk mules. And only the most advanced can understand the trick of these viral doubles. Everyone is forced to remain in disbelief.

micro bags

This year’s trends say that we cannot do without a bag of impressive size. But a few years ago the situation was completely different. Brands, one after another, have launched accessories in microscopic sizes. So much so that it was impossible to put a bank card or phone there. However, the price tag of some models (e.g. Jacquemus and Valentino) was quite reasonable for a normal sized bag.

Wedge Sports Shoes

Isabel Marant wedge-heeled shoes are, without exaggeration, the most trendy shoes of 2010. At that time, the it-girl dreamed of a fitness model who added a few centimeters to her height every second. True, the fashion community is divided into two parts. The latter called this model the first ugly shoe and a nightmare.
