Sad news for fans of Lollapalooza, the most American of Parisian festivals, which offers an exciting program every year. In a press release published on March 7, the festival organizers announced this this year there would be no Lolla at the ParisLongchamp racecourse.
Summer 2024, a “special setting”
Although the organizers did not explicitly mention the Olympics, they did discuss it “logistical, administrative and safety constraints” on the increase, linked to the major sporting event scheduled from 26 July to 11 August.
Although the celebrations are traditionally scheduled for July, organizers believe this is the case “impossible » to organize the event “in the best welcoming conditions for our fans, our artists and our partners ». This decision raises questions about the impact of the Olympic Games, scheduled from July 26 to August 11, on summer cultural events. In October 2022, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, had already raised the possibility of canceling or postponing some of them due to the mobilization of the police for the Olympics.
