Getting older: the Spice Girls celebrate 30 years (and share a beautiful video)

If you feel like you’ve aged a little lately, let’s add a little of that with this video taken straight from the archives of the more British group than the royal family.

Who was born here in the 80s or 90s? I think we’re a good group. And whoever says 90s, says the music that accompanies them, in particular the famous Spice Girls. Vaguely imitated, never equaled, the creation of their group is now 30 years old, and that doesn’t make us any younger.

The Spice Girls first auditioned in 1994

Yes, 1994 was already 30 years ago. To celebrate the date of their first casting, all 5 together, a nice video was released, which takes us back in time:

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls’ first audition. What began in 1994 has turned out to be an incredible journey, more wonderful than anything we could have imagined. Thank you to our fans for their support since day one »

It was after this first audition that everything went right for Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton: from 1995 (and until 1998), the hot girls rose to the top of the single sales charts and album, with hits like Wanabee, Add flavor to your life OR Too. But after the departure of Geri Halliwell in 1998, the group was left without strength and failed to regain success.

Solo careers are launched, a 4-piece album is recorded, a best of it is even proposed, there are rumors of a return, but the magic no longer holds. After a few meetings (we remember well their performance at the London 2012 Olympics), the meetings stopped there, and so did the group.

So when are we coming back? Really Spice Girls? Nothing is certain. Even though Mel B had started a rumor in January (another one), on the set of TODAY with Hoda and Jenna stating that “ Very good news [sera annoncée]in a few weeks, which involves all five “, we’re still waiting to hear what it will be.

In the meantime we can continue to feel old by looking at archive images, like the old people we are.
