Let’s face it, sometimes in a hockey game you want regulation time to end in a draw and the game to continue with overtime. As a result, the tension between the athletes increases and the emotions of the fans in the arena become brighter. We are happy to inform you that all the important moments of extra time and penalty shoot-outs are now recorded. And how!
Starting from the 2023/2024 season, overtime and penalty shoot-outs in KHL matches are called “FONBET OVERTIME”. A limited number of hockey cards were produced as part of this project. It contains 24 collectible images: eight of them are dedicated to the FONBET OT heroes of the 2023/2024 season, and fifteen to the OT legends of past KHL seasons. Let us tell you a secret – the hero of the last card of the collection will be chosen by voting by fans on KHL social networks.
By the way, not everything is so simple. This project also reveals the perfect combination of sports and art. The authors of the illustrations are artists and designers from Russia who have previously worked with the largest Russian and popular brands. Thus, the works of digital artist Denis Shekler can be seen in New York Times Square. In the project, he created several cards, one of which was about the legend of the 2013/2014 season, Yaroslav Khabarov. A unique design for the card featuring Yaroslav Kosov was created by artist Bogdan Kuvashkin. Inspired by Japanese animation and pop culture.
However, a collection card about Alexander Shevchenko, the overtime legend of the 2022/2023 season, was prepared by illustrator and clothing designer Maxim Ignatiev (IGNAT’EV INK).
As you have already noticed, the card will show not only the hockey player, but also the important moment of the selected overtime, its description, analysis scheme and unique facts about the hero. By scanning the QR code, the collector will be directed to the project’s website, which contains information about the entire collection, as well as additional facts and highlights of the moment. Isn’t this a hockey fan’s dream?
The cards will be played through activations on the social networks of bloggers of the project and the KHL, and will also be available for sale in the stores of the Avangard, Lokomotiv, Metallurg MG and Salavat Yulaev hockey clubs, as well as in major clothing and hockey equipment stores: Atributika & Club, Murom Hockey, Red Five and World of Hockey .
