Garnished with butter and jam (or marmalade), they are very popular across the Channel at breakfast, but can also be enjoyed in a savory version, topped with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Furthermore, they are very easy and quick to prepare, as our recipe shows.
The ingredients (for about 5 scones)
- 125 g of wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 g of dry brewer’s yeast
- 10 cl of warm water
- 10 cl of warm milk
- 1 pinch of fine salt
- a little butter for cooking
The focaccia recipe
- Start by diluting the brewer’s yeast in warm water and letting it rest for about 10 minutes.
- In a salad bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Dig a trench and add the cake flour diluted in water. Mix well. Gradually add the heated milk.
- In a hot pan, melt some butter. Add a circle of about 7 cm in diameter to the bottom of the pan that you will have previously buttered (if you don’t have one, it’s not the end of the world, your scones will be less well formed, that’s all). , which you will fill 3/4 with the focaccia dough.
- Cook for about 3 minutes over medium heat, until bubbles appear on the surface of the scone. Cook for 1 more minute on the other side. Repeat the operation until the focaccia dough is used up.
