Morton “Mort” Janklow, the so-called “Super Agent” whose list of literary stars included Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul II, Daniel Steele, Judith Krantz, Sidney Sheldon, Ted Turner and Barbara Walters, has died of heart disease. At his home in Water Mill, New York, just days before his 92nd birthday.

His death was announced by publicist Paul Bogards, speaking on behalf of the Yanklow family and their literary agency, Janklow & Nesbit Associates.

Janklov scored the biggest breakthrough in publishing history for his authors, surpassing several million dollars from close-knit families. He began his career as a lawyer, moving to a new role as a literary agent in 1972 when an old friend and client, William Sapphire, asked him to sign a book deal he was arranging for Richard Nixon.

This book concept was thwarted by the Nixon Watergate scandal and subsequent collapse, but Janklow was able to keep a third of the $ 250,000 advance, breaking the previous one. Eventually the book will emerge as Doubleday. until autumn.

Janklov rocked the publication and received the Awakening of the Sleeping Business award with new ideas in the fields of marketing, affiliate rights and contract law.

Born in New York in 1930, Janklow attended Syracuse University and later Columbia Law School. After seven years of working for a law firm, he created his own, Janklow & Traum. Among his clients was Zaffiro, himself a student of Syracuse.

Janklow has served on many advisory committees, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, and the Solomon Rs. To the Guggenheim Foundation. He has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations for more than four decades.

He leaves behind his wife Linda Leroy Janklow and three children.
