According to Le Figaro, men suffer from mental stress… what is this story?

In the latest article in the “Management” column of Le Figaro, men talk about a very taboo topic: their enormous mental load. If the theme promises great scandal, the content makes no sense. Unless…

I am very disappointed by Le Figaro. The magazine, famous for its high-profile controversies, published an article yesterday whose title was as scandalous as it was promising: The mental load of fathers, a taboo topic that is only talked about behind the scenes.

The promise, right from the introduction of this article: exclusive testimonies of robbed fathers and expert professional insights, all brought from the pen of an expert society journalist. The feminist in me then threw myself into reading, ready to get angry.

Three minutes and three disjointed testimonies later, I had to face the facts: not only did I not feel particular indignation, but above all I understood absolutely nothing about the article.

What, mental load isn’t fun? And was it even better when it was reserved exclusively for women? Do some men still accept passing the broom? Are the demands of adult life just as difficult for men as for women?

Mystery! However, after thinking about it for a long time, I finally identified five reasons that could explain the existence of this article.

Theory #1: It’s a guessing game

True to its reputation as an entertainment magazine, Le Figaro regularly allows its readers to participate in competitions. In this new weekly format, two subscribers will have to guess the meaning of a word they have never heard before.

For its first issue, Le Figaro hit hard by selecting “Mental Load”. Unfortunately, no participant found the correct answer. For Charles, the first candidate, the mental load consists in accumulating recreational activities essential for his personal balance:

I needed to vent, to go out, to do activities constantly because I’m totally hyperactive (…). These are habits that I have maintained since. I constantly
the feeling of being overworked.

Charles, an overworked man with a mental burden

For Guillaume, the second, it is an injunction to save France.

I put crazy pressure on myself. I convince myself that I have to save France, take care of the children and do almost all the household chores.

William who must save his homeland

For all intents and purposes, the answer here was: the mental load is all the things your wives do to allow you to help our nation and enjoy your free time Oh good.

Theory number 2: Le Figaro is a feminist magazine

Historically, Le Figaro he is renowned for his conservative positions. In a France subject to the Wokist dictatorship, the journalists of the famous newspaper are forced to pretend to write for to miss to avoid lynching…

This stigma is as unfair as it is unfounded. Le Figaro it’s also a feminist-islamic-bobo-gaucho-politically correct mainstream media and this article actually claims feminist values. As proof, the newspaper does not forget to remind us that, despite the generous sacrifice of some men buried under the mental burden, it is still women who continue to shoulder the domestic burden.

Theory number 3: the editorial staff of Le Figaro asks for biscuits

Have you noticed that most companies now make fruit available to their employees? However, this healthy eating initiative remains soporific.

Who likes to bite into fruit when craving something sweet? Certainly not the journalists of Figaro who dream of trading their beets for baskets of biscuits. Extolling the merits of these modern men who sometimes take care of their children, even if traditionally this difficult mission was reserved for their partners, the editorial team expects to receive mountains of free biscuits.

Theory number 4: INSEE is a feminist lobby

INSEE (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) collects, analyzes and publishes numerous data regarding French society and in particular the distribution of domestic work.

If the data reported in these reports does not change over the years, it is not because women continue to shoulder the mental burden. No, it is because these figures are false and INSEE is a structure controlled by feminists.

The proof: Jean, Charles and Guillaume shoulder the mental load! Absolutely ! Some men pick up their children from school or sweep the floor, even if they are men.

Theory number 5: Caroline Goldman is on vacation

If Caroline Goldman deserves to rest after a long-winded year, her few weeks of leave are especially damning for a mainstream media temporarily deprived of juicy controversy.

To compensate for the loss of views, writing the Figaro found a simple and particularly effective solution: choose and assemble divisive terms. If this process, as old as the world, once again ridicules a complex phenomenon, it has the advantage of uniting the 50% of the population that really counts.

Or, this article really wants us to believe that mental load is a mixed phenomenon, affecting both women and men. But that too THE Figaro You wouldn’t dare, would you?
