A passenger was found dead in an airplane toilet on a flight from Tenerife to Manchester.
During the journey on Tuesday, fellow passengers on the Jet2 plane noticed that the cabin had been locked for some time, prompting them to alert staff, The Mirror reported.
Upon opening the door, the crew made the shocking discovery that the man was dead and the plane was diverted to Cork Airport in Ireland.
“Flight LS918 from Tenerife to Manchester was diverted to Cork Airport on Tuesday 2 January due to a customer requiring medical attention,” a Jet2 spokesperson told MailOnline.
“Unfortunately, we can confirm that the customer has sadly passed away, despite the best efforts of our highly trained team who intervened immediately upon learning of this.”

A passenger on board told the paper her husband noticed the toilet door had been closed for some time, “and he said he thought he was dead. Tragically, he was right.”
They added that the plane was due to land in Manchester at 8.30pm on Tuesday, but passengers would have to wait in Cork for another plane which would eventually arrive at 1.30am.
A spokesman for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office told MailOnline: “We are supporting the family of a deceased Briton and are in contact with local authorities.”
