In a series of revelations expected in the coming weeks, the names of several former presidents and dozens of others were revealed Wednesday as associates of sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Donald Trump and Bill Clinton were among more than 180 people named in 943 pages of unsealed court documents, which caused the federal court website to temporarily crash when the names were released. The numerous references to the men and Britain’s Prince Andrew were not surprising. It has been publicly known to varying degrees that Trump and Clinton have been connected to Epstein over the decades.

Packed with depositions, discovery, pleadings, appeals and more from a long-running civil trial by alleged Epstein sex slave Virginia Giuffre against now-incarcerated Ghislaine Maxwell, today’s long-awaited document dump isn’t Epstein’s black book, at least not yet . look.
Many of them seem to mention people and situations that have been around for a long time. For example, in a January 10, 2015 email, Maxwell laments the recent allegations against Epstein and worries about “what is my relationship with Clinton?” Andreas, on and on.
Another document from June 2016 discusses obtaining a statement from “William Jefferson Clinton” to highlight his “personal relationship” with Epstein and Maxwell. The former president “is a key figure who disclosed information about his close relationship with the defendant and Mr. Epstein can provide and Ms. Maxwell’s claims can be refuted.” After press reports that Clinton was on Epstein’s private island in the early 2000s were rejected both by Giuffre and by the FBI, a federal judge rejected a request to remove Clinton.
A 2016 statement from Johanna Sjoberg, one of Epstein’s accusers, asks her: “Has Jeffrey ever talked to you about Bill Clinton?”
“He once said that Clinton thinks she’s young, referring to girls,” Sjoberg said.
But Clinton is not accused of wrongdoing in the sordid Epstein saga.
Previously, Clinton’s representatives told reporters he knew “nothing” about Epstein’s crimes and said he made a total of four trips on his plane in 2002 and 2003 — one to Europe, one to Asia and two to Africa, according to the Clinton foundation.
The former president’s name appears elsewhere in the documents, including as someone who can provide information about his relationship with Epstein and “disprove Ms. Maxwell’s allegations,” Giuffre’s lawyers wrote in a filing. But Maxwell’s legal team said Giuffre’s claims about Clinton have been proven false, including the claim that she saw him on Epstein’s private island.
Former president and current Republican front-runner Trump is mentioned by Sjoberg as someone who “called” Epstein and stopped by one of the real estate mogul’s casinos in Atlantic City during a surprise visit to the Garden State.
The documents also mentioned Prince Andrew, another publicly known friend of Epstein’s, and exemplary teacher Jean-Luc Brunel. Brunel was accused of recruiting women for Epstein and was arrested by French police in December 2020 on charges of sexual abuse of a minor. He was found dead in his cell in a Paris prison on 19 February 2022. The cause of death was determined to be suicide by hanging.
Attorney Alan Dershowitz and the late Bill Richardson, former New Mexico governor, UN ambassador and presidential candidate, join Epstein, Maxwell and Prince Andrew on a 2016 list of “IDENTITIES OF INDIVIDUALS LIKELY TO HAVE DISCOVERABLE INFORMATION.” IN THE Pleadings.”
The fact that someone’s name appears in the documents does not mean that he or she was an alleged client of Epstein. Nor does it mean that they were complicit in the abuses for which the well-connected millionaire was convicted in 2008 and arrested again five years ago. Epstein, a friend of presidents, princes and others, committed suicide by hanging on August 10, 2019 while awaiting federal charges from New York and Florida.
By order of New York State Judge Loretta Preska last month, and as the deadline for individuals to appeal their identities expired, the names were released as a sort of epilogue to Giuffre’s completed 2017 assault and defamation trial against Maxwell. Former socialite Maxwell, a longtime associate of Epstein, is currently serving the second year of a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and grooming. Maxwell also faces a perjury case for lying under oath about Epstein’s years of sexual abuse of minors.
“In accordance with the Court’s unsealing order dated December 18, 2023, and after consultation with Defendant, the Plaintiff hereby files documents ordered unsealed,” attorney Sigrid S. McCawley said in a letter to Preska today. “The filing of these unsealed documents will occur on an ongoing basis until they are finalized,” said Giuffre’s attorney at Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP’s Ft. Added offices in Lauderdale, Florida. “This filing also excludes documents related to documents 105…107 and 110…while the court’s review of those documents is ongoing.”
Giuffre’s federal lawsuit against Maxwell was first filed on September 21, 2015, and was “settled” on May 25, 2017.
In addition to her lawsuit against the daughter of British media baron Robert Maxwell, Giuffre was involved in a lawsuit against Prince Andrew. While the brother of King Charles III. Denying that he ever had sex with or ever met the then-teenage Giuffre, despite sharing photos together, Prince Andrew eventually paid her millions as part of a settlement in 2022. That payment came just weeks before the royal family would testify in open court.
In February 2022, both parties filed documents in New York state court requesting a preliminary dismissal of Giuffre’s case.
More Epstein documents and names of associates are expected to be released in the coming months.
