A truck plowed into pedestrians in Germany, killing a mother and injuring her daughter and three other people, according to a report.
The truck driver collided with six pedestrians in the center of Passau in southern Germany at around 09:50, a police spokesman told Bild.
A 37-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash, the other four pedestrians were seriously injured, including the deceased woman’s 11-year-old daughter, police said.
The truck driver also received medical attention and had to be extricated from the driver’s cab, the statement said.
“A serious traffic accident took place on Bahnhofstrasse in Passau on Friday morning,” police said in a statement. A truck hit several people, a woman was killed and four other pedestrians were seriously injured. The truck driver was also injured.

In an update, the Lower Bavarian police said: “At the moment only Bahnhofstrasse is closed.
“The accident vehicle has been impounded for an extensive technical examination and is currently being towed away. As soon as new information becomes available, we will report it immediately.”
Jürgen Dupper, mayor of Passau, said in a statement: “I am deeply touched and shocked by today’s truck accident. In such cases, our deepest condolences go out to the people affected and their families.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to the police, emergency doctors, emergency services, fire brigade and all other rescue organizations who did their work in an exemplary manner under the dire circumstances.” This setback means the worst end to 2023.”
