Experience your caesarean section better thanks to a very simple object, what if it were possible?

In France, one in five women gives birth to their child by caesarean section. Whether it is performed urgently, because the unborn child or the mother is in danger, or it is planned in advance for medical reasons, the cesarean section is no exception.

However, this surgical procedure can traumatize, scare and sometimes give mothers the feeling of missing out on the birth of their child, excluding them from a more “natural” birth.

Indeed, finding yourself in a cold operating room with doctors in caps, surgical instruments everywhere, arms crossed on an operating table, all without feeling the lower part of your body, is not the most pleasant thing.

But what if a simple object could make this moment a little less disturbing? What if it were possible to experience your cesarean birth with the same closeness as a vaginal birth?

A transparent field, to be a spectator of the birth of your baby

If you have already given birth by caesarean section or if you have already seen videos of this operation, you will surely have noticed that a blue field, a kind of large sheet, prevented the lying mother from seeing her belly and what happens behind it.

However, in the United States in particular, it is possible to replace this blue field with a transparent one, so that you have a view of what is happening and be in the front row when the child leaves the room. .

So don’t panic, of course, with this transparent field we won’t be able to see the incision and the blood too much, since the expectant mother’s belly is prominent enough to hide all this.

What we see is the baby coming out of the womb, we see him let out his first cry, we see his umbilical cord. The mother is in the front row at the birth, she doesn’t have to wait for the midwife, nurse or doctor to come around the blue field to come and present her baby, she can see everything live.

For some, seeing everything can be scary and they may ask for the scene to be hidden. But for those who are afraid of missing out on the birth of their child, a simple transparent field can make the difference.

There is also another option, that of the “transparent field, but not too much”, where only a small window is provided in the sheet, to see only the child, and not everything else.

Unfortunately, according to our research, the practice of transparent fields is not at all widespread in France. We hope that this will change one day, for all those who would like to experience their caesarean section differently and witness the birth of their child differently.
