The Dodgers’ $700 million man gifted his teammate Joe Kelly’s wife a brand new Porsche. The gift was a token of gratitude for their campaign to sign the free agent for the Dodgers.
“This is yours. By Shohei,” Ashley Kelly is told in a video posted on social media. “He wanted to give you a Porsche.” I swear
The new owner of the silver four-door sports car was stunned.
“Close the…” she said. She left the rest of the sentence silent.
Ashley Kelly’s viral #Ohtake17 campaign began when she wore her husband’s number 17 and jokingly changed her seven-month-old’s name from Kai to ShoKai.
She also wore every item of clothing from Kelly No. 17 she owned, including a “Zaddy 17” jersey.
Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers earlier this month. It’s the largest in North American sports history, and Ohtani deferred much of the salary to help his new team attract even more talent. It paid off this week when prized pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto signed with the Dodgers.
Ohtani will wear his no. 17 jersey, while substitute Joe Kelly changed his number to no. 99 changed.
