Deadline further expands its outstanding international position with the appointment of respected industry veteran Stewart Clarke, most recently creative director of the Edinburgh TV Festival and former international correspondent at Variety.
Clarke joins Deadline as SVP Content, International. Based in London, he will contribute to the editorial team and work closely with Celine Rotterman, Deadline’s Senior Vice President of Global Business Development & Strategic Partnerships, and Diana Lodderhose, International Features Editor, to expand Deadline’s international business opportunities.
Clarke, who starts Monday (December 11), will report to Deadline president Ellie Duque and work alongside the international team, including international editor Andreas Wiseman, who leads the international editorial team.

Since 2020, as creative director of the Edinburgh TV Festival, Clarke has worked with a range of broadcasters, producers, streamers and industry partners to oversee the year-round programming and events of the high-profile UK TV event.
He led the festival, the largest of its kind in the UK, through two digital years during the pandemic, then through its return year as a live event in 2022 and this year’s edition. The past two years have been some of the most successful in the festival’s history.
The festival’s headliner is the MacTaggart Lecture, delivered under Clarke’s supervision by David Olusoga, Jack Thorne, Emily Maitlis and Louis Theroux. Speakers booked by Clarke outside the UK include John Landgraf, Rob Sharenow, Jennifer Salke and Pearlena Igbokwe.
Clarke also launched the successful Climate Content Summit, held at the Barbican, London, where senior producers, commissioners and filmmakers met with climate experts.
Before Edinburgh, Clarke was an international correspondent at Variety. From London he reported on Berlin, Cannes and other festivals and told many stories. That’s what he does
was editorial director of Television Business International, where he covered the global television market and spoke and participated in events around the world.
