Jennifer Lopez has found his next film project, and it’s an adaptation of the Broadway musical Spider Woman’s Kiss. Bill Condon (Dream girls AND The beauty and the Beast) will direct the film Barry Josephson (Enchanted) producing.
The musical is based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puigwhich was originally adapted as a stage play in 1983. Not long after, in 1985, there was a film adaptation starring William Hurt. Puig’s novel was later adapted into a musical of the same name John Kander AND Fred Ebbthe team behind Chicago AND Cabaret in 1993.
The musical centers on two prisoners, “Luis Molina, a gay window dresser convicted of corrupting a minor, and Valentin Arregui, a captured revolutionary. Molina finds comfort in a fantasy vampire diva named Aurora, who he discusses with Valentin as their relationship grows and takes on new dimensions. Lopez will play the role of Aurora.
The film’s producers are currently looking for an unknown actress for the role of Molina.
