Omid Scobie has started the promotional rounds for his new book about the royal family. Scobie, the author of Find freedomwho documented Harry and Meghan’s “exit” from Britain to Hollywood, writes in his new book: “The side of this that many people don’t know, or that are known in our industry but chose not to mention, is simple, how complicated.” William was involved in many of the things that came to light about his own brother.
In an interview with The timesHe adds that William’s wife, the Princess of Wales, has always been the favorite of the British press. Scobie says: “In reporting on Kate, we infantilize her enormously, so the bar is ever lower. The small successes we’ve seen with the Princess of Wales might go unnoticed with any other member of the royal family, but with Kate it’s like ‘Wow!'”
Scobie also points out that Andrew, Duke of York, remains in his royal residence in Windsor despite his past dealings with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The journalist says: “It is interesting what is considered the last straw when you are banished from the family.”
More broadly, he writes in his book that the royal family is at a crucial time: “The future of the royal family as we know it is in crisis. As this crisis stems from a lack of interest among young people , apathy and a growing republican movement, we wonder if the family still upholds the morals and values of the Crown that the Queen has upheld so well.But looking at the cast of characters, it was doubtful.
In his interview with The times, he reflects: “It will take a lot to break up the British royal family.” But could William be the last king as we know him? Absolutely.” He believes that the Windsors, reduced to tourist attractions, pose a real danger, but that such a fate can be avoided if they act. “The book doesn’t put the last nail in the coffin,” he says with a smile. “It’s just a reality check.”
It won’t be a quiet week for royal critics, fans and observers as Scobie’s book hits shelves.
