So the good news is that the six-month double strike that brought Hollywood to a standstill is over. The bad news is that Billy Ray is almost done with Deadline Strike Talk, which we thought was fantastic and a light in the dark. He’ll do another episode or two to round out the lessons we’ve hopefully learned from this labor unrest, and then we’ll ask him to stay on the podcast at Deadline. In a down-to-earth and intelligent tone and with an excellent choice of guests, he helped provide insight into the complexities, forces and history underlying the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The hope is that he and first baseman Todd Garner, together or separately, will continue an internal baseball dialogue with the industry. That’s a conversation for another day. Here Billy Ray talks about the deal that will get the industry back on track. And he will be joined by California senators Anthony Portantino and Dave Min to discuss state government’s role in supporting the labor movement.
