Netflix has announced that its League of Legends animated series Arcane will return for its second season in November 2024. The first season of this series was truly fantastic and I only hope that the next season ends up being at least as good as Season 1 offered.
Arcane is a highly acclaimed series and became the first streaming series to win the Emmy Award for an animated program. The show also won nine Annie Awards, including Best Animated Television Production for General Audiences.
Hailee Steinfeld AND Ella Purnell will reprise their roles as sisters Vi and Jinx in the series, who find themselves on opposite sides of a conflict in the utopian city of Piltover and its poor underbelly, Zaun.
Season 2 has been in development for a long time and when talking about why Season 2 took so long to develop, Riot Games CEO Nicolò Laurent he previously said: “It’s not ready and there yet [are] two reasons for this. One, you want quality. We just don’t want to rush and so it takes time. So that’s the good reason. The bad reason is that, honestly, we didn’t know if Season 1 was going to be a success, so we didn’t start Season 2 until [later]. If I had known, we could have started season two much earlier. But we didn’t know, so we waited a while and now we’re paying the price. So, unfortunately, it won’t be this year.”
Arcane The second season will also be produced by Linke Marc Merrill, Brandon Beck, Jane Chung AND Thomas Vu. The series is directed by Pasquale Charrue AND Arnaud Delord.
