In 2023 poetry is written in the feminine

Is poetry an outdated genre? How can we describe our world and its challenges in verse? What is the public’s perception of this genre? While poetry returns to the hearts of readers, thanks to social networks and numerous female writers, the Madmoizelle BookClub welcomed two intimate poets to talk about it: Rim Battal and Stéphanie Vovor.

When we think of poetry, we often think of classical authors, whose reading would be reserved for an elite. However, in recent years, this literary genre has been able to conquer a heterogeneous audience, thanks to the emergence of poets who are dusting off an art long perceived as antiquated.

And among these 21st century poets, there are many women who speak about the world we live in, through verses that are intimate as well as political. Their names are Cécile Coulon, Rupi Kaur, Morgane Ortin, Rim Battal or Stéphanie Vovor… they publish in collections, on Instagram, everywhere.
