A day earlier, Vogue magazine announced the theme for the annual Costume Institute Met Gala 2024: “Sleeping Beauties: The Awakening of Fashion.” He will open an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 6 next year.
It was reported that the exhibition will cover 400 years of fashion history and will feature more than 250 exhibits from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. As Vogue writes, some clothes are “too fragile to wear again.” Many people here on the internet thought this was a rock in Kim Kardashian’s garden. After all, she arrived at the Met Gala 2022 in an archival Marilyn Monroe dress and ruined it: the seams at the hips treacherously opened and the stones fell out. Probably for the same reason, the power of artificial intelligence and various media technologies will be used to exhibit historical clothing items.
“These are the true sleeping beauties of fashion,” Costume Institute curators Andrew Bolton and Wendy Yu explain. They claim that visitors to the exhibition will be able to delve into history with the help of modern technology and learn how some great and important fashion works were created.
