Come on, here is the selection of our favorite children’s books, the ones that put us in perfect shape for the autumn and winter that is slowly arriving. I hope this might make you want to read them with your kids (or those around you) or even on your own, why not.
Dou and his comfortable cover, for 18 months
Written by Johan Leynaud and published by Gallimard Jeunesse in their collection Story Time, Dou and his blanket is a very sweet and fluffy fairy tale. Perfect for the little ones who are always looking for their stuffed animal and who are delighted when they realize that it was actually warm under the duvet.

My first Larousse bookcase, 12 months ago
Published by Larousse Jeunesse, this cardboard picture book is perfect for little ones. Nine mini-books in the shape of cubes, which can be stacked, extracted, put away, assembled… In each small book there are words to discover, accompanied by their drawing. In total, more than 100 words are shared! Perfect for language learning.

The horrible beast of Mont-la-Terre, for 3 years
Warning, this book is scary! No, that’s wrong. It’s the cutest and funniest book there is, starring a really brave postman rabbit, who goes, with fear in his butt, to meet the monster hidden in the castle of Mont-la-TERROR. Written by Alexandra Garibal, illustrated by Julie Colombet and published by the Kaléidoscope editions of the École des Loisirs, this album is perfect for this month of October which ends with Halloween.

Don’t be afraid, Brown Bear!, for 3 years
A beautiful story of friendship, just the way we like them. Written by Karma Wilson, Jane Chapman and published by Larousse Jeunesse, Don’t be afraid, Brown Bear tells the story of a bear who gets lost in the forest, in the middle of a storm. His friends are worried and go looking for him, find him and console him. A happy ending how much we love them!

Beware of ghosts, Palomino! from 4 years
What do you think of a ghost story? The season lends itself to this, don’t you think? Here, this is the case of this beautiful album by Michael Escoffier and Matthieu Maudet, published by the École des Loisirs. We discover the story of Palomino, Arizona, Scarlett and Roxy who go around the houses collecting candy, and who come across old Chester’s house, supposedly haunted… So, do ghosts really exist?

Guess, seek and find: myths, from 5 years old
Attention, beauty alert with this sublime album by Manon Bucciarelli, published by Gallimard Jeunesse. Besides being cool seek and find based on mythology, it is a true work of art. The illustrations, by the talented Manon Bucciarelli, are incredibly beautiful, so much so that we want to cut out each page to display them on the walls of our living room. Also, for the Parisians, see you on Thursday 9 November in the gallery One day an illustration in the 7th arrondissement for a launch evening with an exhibition, a sale of new prints and artist autographs!

The fox, the wolf and Kiki, from 4 years
We have already told you about Thibault Prugne’s books, published by Margot editions. After Fox and little GeorgeAfter Fox, Marcel and the chickens (my little favorite) and after The fox, Gloubi and the Grizzlyhere it finally arrives The fox, the wolf and Kiki ! And once again it is a success. The fox, this time, tries to be tamed by a human, with the help of a tiny dog, with the sole purpose of eating kibble by eye, like the good rapier that he is. It’s funny, beautiful, well written and always with these great illustrations. In a word: perfect.

The Phantoms of the Opera, from 6 years
And soon, crush warning for this sublime album from Pog & Leon, released by Little Urban. Land in 1920 in the heart of the Opéra Garnier and let yourself be transported by the soul of the building and the most famous ghosts, coming out of great operas, ranging from Carmen to The Magic Flute, all free to come and enchant this already so magical place. We follow a little Opera mouse and the caretaker’s niece, who discover, after a stormy night, an old gramophone capable of bringing to life all the characters from the most famous operas and ballets. A nugget!

We have two eyes to see, starting from the age of 5
Huge, huge, HUGE (yes, I write it very big, just to say it) I fell in love with Baptiste Beaulieu’s sublime album, illustrated by Qin Leng and published by Les Arènes Jeunesse. After the immense success of The people are beautifulBaptiste Beaulieu, doctor and writer, once again shows us the full extent of his talent We have two eyes to see. A beautiful, poetic, impactful and necessary album for children, but also for adults, those who have forgotten that the world is made up of many things, the beautiful, the sad, the different. That some wounds never heal and that, as the author says very well at the end of the book, “ we are not responsible for ALL misfortunes, but we are responsible for supporting those who are affected by misfortunes “. So much humanity distilled into a few small pages is great.

Cute little bears search and find, starting from 3 years old
Yes, one more seek and find in this selection, but I couldn’t not tell you about it. Under the pen of Alain Broutin and Frédéric Stehr, all published by the École des Loisirs in its Récréative collection, go in search of yellow butterflies, snails, jars of honey and bees with Calinours. An album that smells of autumn, with very delicate and masterful illustrations, and that makes us want to take walks in the woods, among the orange leaves.
