ProSiebenSat.1 restructures Seven. One Entertainment Group, Networks boss Daniel Rosemann and Joyn Boss leave company

European TV giant ProSiebenSat.1 has restructured its Seven. One Entertainment Group. The changes mean that top German channel manager Daniel Rosemann leaves after fifteen years and Joyn’s CEO also departs.

With the new structure, ProSiebenSat.1’s CEO Bert’s Habets will expand his duties to include the same role at Seven. One Entertainment and the Unterföhring-based company will continue its restructuring as a digital-first company. Many key employees left the company and around 10% of ProSiebenSat.1’s entire workforce was reduced as part of this process.

The new changes will see Seven. One Chief Content Officer Henrik Pabst take on an expanded role overseeing content across all channels and platforms, while Katharina Frömsdorf will assume responsibility for streamer Joyn as Chief Platforms and Growth Officer. Joyn CEO Tassilo Raesig and Joyn CFO and COO René Sahm are leaving the company by mutual consent “due to differing views on the future direction of the platform,” according to ProSiebenSat.1.

Rosemann, who was previously channel manager for ProSieben and SAT.1, is leaving as a result. The SVP content development of these networks, Hannes Hiller, and Kable Eins boss Marc Rasmus will take over the respective networks. Other changes include Rasmus’ deputy Felix van Mengden taking over Kabel Eins and Sixx channel manager Ellen Koch is now also responsible for SAT.1 GOLD, ProSieben MAXX and Kabel Eins Doku.

Habets, Pabst and Seven. One Entertainment CFO Stefan Endriß now form a three-person management team. The company said the consolidation “optimizes cross-media delivery of content across all the company’s channels and platforms and fosters collaboration across all brands.”

Joyn, who is considered the heart of a digitally oriented ProSieben group, will move closer to the core media activities. Frömsdorf is now responsible, among other things, for all digital platforms, station websites, sales and the digital producer Studio71 and Seven. One Audio. She also became CEO of Joyn and now reports directly to Habets.

Nicole Agudo Berbel and Benjamin Risom also strengthen Joyn’s management team.

“Joyn has all the prerequisites to become the leading advertising-funded streaming service in German-speaking countries,” said Frömsdorf. “I look forward to working with the incredible Joyn team and the combined power of Seven. One Entertainment Group to take our streaming platform to the next level.”

The new structure will take effect on November 1, 2023, when the restructuring of ProSiebenSat.1 Media’s entertainment segment ends. It has been a difficult few months for ProSiebenSat.1. Profits and revenue fell in the second quarter as the downturn in the TV advertising market continued. The exciting Rosemann counts the German versions of The masked singer, The voice And The 1% club about his series on ProSieben and SAT.1. His departure is described as amicable, ProSiebenSat.1 stated that he is saying goodbye on “the best terms”.

“Leaving ProSieben and SAT.1 after 15 very intensive years is definitely the biggest and most difficult decision I have made so far in my life,” he said. “But for me it’s the right time. I leave with great gratitude for everything I have been able to achieve with my teams in the past few years.”

Habets, the former CEO of RTL who moved to ProSiebenSat.1 in November last year, said: “I have come to know Daniel Rosemann over the past twelve months as an exceptional TV professional with a keen sense and a great passion for programming.” As channel manager of ProSieben and SAT.1, he repositioned both channels in recent years and brought strong artists to us. I would like to thank him for the very good cooperation and wish him all the best for his personal future.

“At the same time, I am very happy that we were able to successfully fill the positions of all channel managers with good internal colleagues. Together with this very experienced management team, we will continue to drive ProSiebenSat.1’s core activities and especially our growth at Joyn.”

Habets also commented on the Joyn changes, saying that Raesig and Sahm “showed great commitment to setting up and expanding the platform in Germany”, “without which the successful launch of Joyn in Austria would not have been possible .”

“Now we need to integrate Joyn even more closely into our business and position it on the market as a streaming service for the whole family,” he added.

Raesig joined Joyn in 2017 as part of the founding team as COO, became a member of the board in 2020 and has been CEO of Joyn since May 2021. Sahm joined the management team in May 2021 as CFO and COO.
