Biden will address the nation and the world from the Oval Office on Thursday about Israel’s trip, the invasion of Gaza and the war in Ukraine

Before Air Force One even reaches American soil after Joe Biden’s trip to grieving Israel, the White House has just announced that the president will speak to the country and the world on Thursday.

“Tomorrow, President Biden will address the nation to discuss our response to Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel and Russia’s ongoing brutal war against Ukraine.” said press spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre this afternoon when Biden flew back from a short trip to the Jewish state. “This speech will be delivered in the Oval Office at 8:00 PM ET.”

With the situation in Israel deteriorating following Hamas’ murderous terror attack on the Jewish state on October 7 and a devastating invasion looming in Gaza, it will be a rare opportunity for Biden to deliver a speech in the Oval Office. The only other time in this first term that the president gave a speech in the Oval Office was on June 2 on the debt ceiling deal. Typically, Biden’s speeches are delivered elsewhere on the White House grounds.

All cable journalists, broadcast networks and online platforms are expected to broadcast tomorrow’s speech live.

With the House without a full-time speaker for the past two weeks due to Republican Party infighting, all appropriations for Israel or Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion have ground to a halt. Biden has already delivered weapons to Tel Aviv and is expected to call for a bipartisan effort to get Congress to act and release funding. The president is also expected to address the deadly destruction of Gaza City’s Al-Ahli Arab Hospital on October 17, which killed nearly 500 people.

In the hours that followed, Hamas quickly blamed Israeli airstrikes for the hospital blast. However, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) held a press conference on Wednesday morning to present evidence that it had nothing to do with the tragedy. The IDF instead points the finger at a failed rocket launch by the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad. As protests against Israel and America erupted across the Middle East, the splinter group immediately released a statement denying the allegations.

In Israel today, Biden placed the blame on “the other team,” referring to the information and intelligence from the US Department of Defense that he had seen.

As Air Force One refueled at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Biden returned to speak to the press today. The president discussed his visit to Israel, spoke with families who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks, and the information he has seen leads him to believe it is “highly unlikely” that Israel had anything to do with the rocket that exploded. had to do the hospital in Gaza
