French audiences will soon be able to discover the first images of Hayao Miyazaki’s new film, which will be released in theaters on November 1st. Evoking an homage to all of his previous films, this trailer has you wanting more than ever.

First titled How do you live? then renamed The boy and the heronthe film is the adaptation book based on a novel by Genzaburō Yoshino released in 1937, a time when Japan was entering a process of militarization on the eve of World War II. In the film we follow Mahito, a 15-year-old boy who meets a heron. The mysterious bird will guide him into a strange and magical world, poised between life and death.
