Fall-winter 2023 trends: black coats, shiny tights and tight silhouettes

While we want to extend the summer, we have a new season ahead, which means some of the fresh trends that will dominate the ball for the next three months. Although it is very difficult to keep up with all the trends in the industry, we will still try to collect the most basic ones in our materials.

So, for the upcoming season, the design store invites us to move from the glamorous (read: hackneyed) zero to the more restrained 90s. Also remember the shiny tights Lou loved so much from “Me Before You” and the masculine shouldered jackets like Grace Jones on the Nightclubbing album cover.

But first things first. In this material, we have brought together 10 main trends that are driving the entire fashion industry crazy. And yes, it’s definitely worth considering.

black coat

Although long black coats are a staple of the wardrobe, they promise to take over everything that comes their way this fall: from social networks to the streets of megacities. For this, we thank the creative directors of Stella McCartney, Givenchy, Victoria Beckham, Alaïa, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Chanel and many others. By the way, there are a lot of fashionable options: some designers vote for strict double-breasted models, the second – for excessively large size, and still others rely on the waist.

You may love tights, you may hate them, but you cannot miss the fact that they are back in fashion. And not ordinary, but bright. This is evidenced not only by the images of street style heroes, but also by major fashion brands. For example, we saw bright pink models on the Marine Serre runway, red ones on the Coperni fashion show, and even cobalt ones on the Giambattista Valli fashion show.

Red color

Since we are talking about color, it is impossible not to note the number of red things in the collections of brands. So yes, deep red and everything that goes with it is another big trend this fall. Of course, the upcoming season is often associated with a calmer natural palette, but when designers unanimously offer to add a little passion, it is impossible to refuse them.

Jackets with huge shoulders are also a must for the season. In the fall-winter 2023 collections, it seems that all designers show their interpretation of this item. But our favorites are jackets from Prada, Gucci, Sportmax and Tod’s. You can use this outfit with suit trousers and jeans, as well as with midi skirts and even dresses. By the way, it’s fashionable to bet on femininity to balance a masculine jacket.

wide scarves

We are sure that all residents of the post-Soviet space associate wide scarves carelessly thrown over their shoulders with that very unpleasant teacher at school. However, judging by the collections of designers, it is now in trend. And we don’t recommend lagging behind. Take a look at the runway looks from Saint Laurent, Gabriela Hearst, Burberry, and Louis Vuitton and see if this accessory can complete your look.

Last year’s trend towards stylish aesthetics has given way to a more mature office reporter. This season, the design shop has started to completely rethink its business style. How else, because quarantine and remote work are a thing of the past. For this reason, tight jackets, midi skirts, cardigans and pointed-toed shoes dominate the podium.

metallic

Glossy publications have been writing about the popularity of metallics for more than a season. However, the trend will not give up its positions, on the contrary, the demand for things that shine is only increasing. For this, we thank the design workshop led by the creative directors Blumarine, Tory Burch, JW Anderson and Simone Rocha.

Form-fitting silhouettes

Everyone who is tired of the large size rejoice! Because this season, designers are bringing back tight silhouettes. In evidence the collections of Mowalola, Conner Ives, Di Petsa, Nensi Dojaka and Christopher Kane.

Hood

Another trend that deserves special attention is hoods. Designers add them to dresses, tops, sweaters and any wardrobe item where they will look appropriate. By the way, if you don’t want to hide your favorite earrings behind the hoodie, you should take note of the Saint Laurent show technique. Stylists recommend removing one side of the headpiece behind the ear. Then all the attention will be on your jewelry.

Duet of white and black

If you are asked which color combination is the most fashionable at the moment, do not hesitate to answer: white and black. It is this (seemingly banal) duo that the creative directors of famous fashion houses trust. For example, a cropped black fur coat with a surreal white print appeared in the Schiaparelli autumn-winter collection, and a black dress with contrasting feathers appeared on the Chanel catwalk.
