Michael Jackson Accused Of Child Sexual Abuse: New Legal Twist

Two alleged victims of Michael Jackson have finally got their child sexual abuse cases reopened, thanks to the extension of the statute of limitations.

They dared to go public with their testimony in minute detail in the HBO documentary Leaving Neverlandreleased in 2019. However, their court battle is far from over.

This Friday, August 18, the California Court of Appeals allowed two alleged victims of Michael Jackson to relaunch the proceedings against the singer for child sexual abuseS. Now aged 40 to 45, Wade Robson and James Safechuck had respectively 7 and 10 years at the time of the disputed facts.

Extension of the permissible limitation period from 2020

This new development is notably due to a new California law that allows it extension of statute of limitations for alleged victims of childhood sexual abuse. Effective October 2020, this law authorizes Wade Robson and James Safechuck to file charges against Michael Jackson’s companies MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, as reported by the American media People. In 2013 and 2014, it was because of the statute of limitations that their attempt had failed.

Michael Jackson has been prosecuted for child sexual abuse since 1993

Died at 50 years since a drug overdose in 2009Michael Jackson had been accused of acts of pedophilia since 1993. The complainant was Jordan Chandler, then 13 years old. The case was settled out of court, with $25 million offered to the child’s family.

In 2003, shortly after the release of documentary Living with Michael Jacksonin which the singer reveals that he shares his bed with the children, Michael Jackson was sued again by Gavin Arvizo, 13 years old at the time of the events. Right now, Wade Robson had testified on behalf of the singer. But a few years later, he reconsidered his testimony, revealing that he had lied in court, unaware of the abuse he himself allegedly suffered.
