Why shouldn’t you eat the kernel of the apricot kernel?

The kernel of the apricot kernel, also present in that of cherry or apple seeds, contains an active ingredient called amygdalin. The latter has the particularity of turning into cyanide during digestion. The consumption of almonds from the apricot kernel is also supervised by the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Safety (ANSES). The latter explains it“Consuming large doses of these almonds can lead to signs of acute intoxication such as seizures, breathing problems, decreased heart rate, loss of consciousness and even coma.”

Safe consumption is equivalent to about 1-3 almonds for adults and half of a small almond for young children. The concern is that at no time do TikTokeurs warn their audience about the risks they run if they overdose on almonds and above all about the limitations they must imperatively take into account. Worse yet, in one of the videos, TikTokeuse @queenseedadrianne explains that she has increased her consumption of apricot kernels to 10 per day to boost results… A statement that can be dangerous in front of a young and easily influenced audience .

Effects that have never been proven by science

Beyond the proven dangers inherent in consuming apricot pits, the expected anti-acne effects have never been proven by science. To combat the appearance of pimples during adolescence (which is again a completely normal phenomenon), you must first consult a dermatologist.

This specialist is the only one who can offer you a treatment adapted to your needs, allow you to understand the particularities of your skin and advise you on the various alternative medicines that you may or may not try. As for TikTok, a double check of the information that can be found there is necessary and imperative to avoid any health risk.
