Pride month is coming to an end, but at your level you can continue to show your support for LGBTI+ people! Here are some very simple ways to be present in our struggles!
Discover LGBTI+ people
No one has science infused, you probably have a lot of questions about LGBTI+ people : Not sure you get what we are talking about when we talk the word heteronormativity ? For where we are the rights of trans people in France today? And what intersex ?
Gone are the days when LGBTI+ people themselves were destitute to find resources about them. Today many things are by hand. Do you have a doubt? Google is your friend!
Both in podcasts (Camille, Quouïr, The Fever and many others) or on Instagram (Aggressively Trans, Pia Pia Media, LGBT_history, the LGBTQI Archives collective, to name a few accounts), information abounds and is easily accessible.

Decentralize yourself and accept your privileges
Of course, we are all human beings. No one will tell you otherwise. But in our current society there is a hierarchy that generates inequalities. Sometimes they are very flashy, sometimes they are tiny. Learn to see them.
Yes, you are straight and cisgender, you are not asked to whip yourself. Just so you know it makes your life a little easier, just like being able-bodied, thin, white…
For example, there is little risk that your access to housing will be compromised by your sexual orientation. You’ve never had a problem picking up a package at the post office, because you first had to prove you were the person on your ID card. You have never been shy about holding hands with the one you love on the street. You don’t have the right to awkward silence when you’re at the doctor, or worse, intrusive questions about your sexuality… And that’s good!
When we are in the norm, we don’t necessarily realize that the world is designed for us. It’s normal. So starting to become aware of your privileges is already a first step.
Don’t let pinkwashing fool you
In June, it is now the meeting place for brands to show themselves LGBTI+-friendly. But don’t forget that it’s also a clever, if not very subtle, strategy pink wash!
Pinkwashing is a way for a government, a company, an institution to give itself a progressive and open-minded image by capitalizing on its tolerance of LGBTI+ people.
So yes, it’s very nice to make your logo rainbow, it’s cute and it’s not expensive… but when there’s no anti-discrimination or LGBTI+ inclusion policy internally, that doesn’t mean much.
Actually, it’s not even the least. Pay attention and don’t be fooled by brands that sail on equality.
Come out of silence to support LGBTI+ people
Take back your straight co-worker who uses “faggot” in all sorts of ways. Point out to your mother that “lesbian” is not a dirty word. Teach your friend who transgresses a trans person or uses their dead name (i.e. a trans person’s birth name, a name they no longer use in favor of their usual name).
The only risk for you is to come across as a party pooper, but you’re a feminist, break the mood already in the eveningso go on!

Support us!
You are certainly not insensitive to the issues related to medically assisted procreation for female couples, single women and trans people. Surely you believe in the fundamental right to dispose of your own body. So be there to do a number of our demos!
And also: COME ON. FROM THE. UNDER. Many projects await you (well, not just you, you with your credit card), Support the Trans Social Aid Fund of the Acceptess association, support XY supportsupport requests for donations and cookware.
This list is not exhaustive, but with these few suggestions you have what it takes to do a good job as an ally, during the month of Pride, but also throughout the rest of the year.
