Simple, Greek, Skyr, chocolate or flavored yoghurt… There are hundreds of yogurts in the dairy section of our supermarket. Whether they are more pleasure oriented or health oriented (such as those with active bifidus), there is literally something for everyone. But which ones are really good for the body?
According to an American study published in the journal Frontiers in nutritionwe are not at the end of our surprises. And for good reason, the latter has compared more than 612 different yogurts in order to determine which of them represent the best source of calcium and good nutrients, and it may be that they are not the ones to bet on.
An evaluation based on a rigorous scoring system
To evaluate with the utmost certainty which yogurt will be the healthiest on the market, American scientists have bet on it a rating system that ranks foods according to their nutrients, thus including iron, fiber, vitamins, potassium and protein. Obviously it also takes into account the level of added sugars (very important), sodium or saturated fats (yes, some yogurts contain them).

The healthiest yogurt is…
It’s almond milk yogurt which is the big winner of this study in terms of nutritional quality! The latter is followed by oat yoghurt and then dairy yoghurts low in fat or fat-free. Whole milk, cashews and coconut yogurts are close behind.
A track record that proves that plant-based alternatives are to be taken seriously and can sometimes better meet the needs of the body than their animal milk cousins.
