Netflix has released a fun trailer for their animated feature The tweetsbased on the beloved book by Roald Dahl, who also wrote some of my other favorite childhood books turned into films like Matilda, James and the Giant PeachAND Charlie and the Chocolate Factoryto name a few.
The film is co-directed by Phil Johnston (Ralph breaks the Internet),, Katie Shanahan AND Todd Demonwith new music from David Byrne with Hayley Williams. The screenplay is co-adapted by Johnston and Meg Favreau.
The characteristics of the voice cast Margo Martindale, Johnny Vegas, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ryan Lopez, Emilia Clarke, Natalie Portman , Timothy Simons, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Alan Tudyk, Mark Proksch, Rebecca WisockyAND Charlie Berens.
The synopsis reads: “Oscar-nominated director Phil Johnston reimagines Roald Dahl, the iconic characters of Jim & Credenza Twit, in their first animated adventure.
“The Twits says so The story of Mr. & Mrs. Twit, the world’s nastiest, smelliest, meanest people who also happen to run the world’s most disgusting, most dangerous, and most idiotic amusement park, Twitlandia.
“But when the Twits rise to power in their city, two brave sons and a family of magical Muggle Wumps are forced to become as tough as the Twits to save the city.
“A hysterically fun and wild ride of a film (chock-full of the Twits’ beloved tricks—from Wormy Spaghetti to the dreaded Mansions), The Twits is also a story for our times, about the never-ending battle between cruelty and empathy.”
This seems like a very fun and sweet take on a book I loved as a child, as I’m sure many others did. It will be fun to watch with the family.
Check out the trailer below and watch The tweets on Netflix on October 17.
