37 injured, including 4 seriously, and 1 person still missing
The Paris American Academy is a bilingual private fashion school founded by musician Richard Roy in 1965 to prepare individuals for careers in fashion, fine art and interior design. According to witnesses interviewed by AFP or RMC, a strong smell of gas was felt shortly before the explosion. Soon after the latter, two people were reported missing, including a mother, who was finally found. According to sniffer dogs at the scene, it could be that the other missing person is still under the rubble.
The Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation for ” unintentional injury due to a manifestly intentional breach of a duty of care or safety “. The public prosecutor of Paris, Laure Beccuau, stated as follows:
“The First Elements […] lead us to confirm that this explosion originated from the building. […] We obviously count on the victims in a relative emergency to give us the first elements of investigation and understanding of what may have happened. »
While one person remains missing and the number of absolute emergencies has not yet stabilized, all our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Meanwhile Fashion Week homme continues to be in full swing in Paris, making the explosion of this fashion school even more tragic.
